Fire Destroys One Home on Oak Ridge Road

(Huntsville/Lake of Bays) On February 5, 2026, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire on Oak Ridge Road in Huntsville.

Firefighters from Station 1 (Huntsville) and Station 5 (Port Sydney) responded with 18 firefighters and seven fire apparatus. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Muskoka EMS, and Hydro One also attended.

Upon arrival, crews found the residence fully involved, with the roof collapsing into the structure. The homeowner and their pet dog were not home at the time of the fire.
Firefighters worked for approximately four hours to bring the fire under control and fully extinguish the fire.

Due to the extent of damage to the home, the exact cause of the fire could not be determined.

Fire officials noted that emergency access to the property was greatly improved by a clearly marked civic address sign and a well-maintained laneway, allowing crews to locate and access the scene quickly. Residents are reminded that visible address signage and clear access routes can make a critical difference for emergency responders.

No injuries were reported.
